Eaglesham School
Provincial Cross Country Team - 2004
Ten students from Eaglesham School
attended the ASAA Provincial Cross Country championships in Sundre,
Alberta. The weekend was a perfect spectator day but a little hot
for cross country running.
Sundre had a very technical course, that was run up and along an
escarpment type terrain. The runners started on a flat surface
around the ball diamonds, then climbed the escarpment and ran on top, for
a distance before coming down. The last 1/3rd of the race was up an
then along the "SCAR" of the escarpment. This was a path
that ran the length of the hill and down the other side where the runners
then entered the ball diamonds and to the finish line. When the
runners started entering the scar all spectators could see the runners for
the rest of the race, which in some races was very exciting to watch.
The "SCAR".
The 10 hour bus ride.
Getting ready to race! All these girls look like
their in the "zone" and ready to race.
Walk through on Friday evening, just to get the feel of
the course.
