Some of the high school students were fortunate
enough to spend 3 days at YoWoChAs Outdoor Educational Center.
This program enforces Respect for Self, Respect for Others and Respect
for the Environment. The two leaders responsible for keeping us
busy for the 3 days were Fish and Kooee ( from Australia). These
beautiful women kept us busy with high ropes, bolder wall, outdoor
shelter building, canoeing, polar dipping, and rock climbing, just
to mention a few. The kids enjoyed the instruction and week
end company. Mrs. Sallis, Mr. Paul and Mrs. Connell thought the whole
weekend was awesome. (Except
when we had to compete with Kelsey in the last stages of the Treasure
Hunt) |

Many thanks to Mrs. Sallis
for driving the bus
and
Mrs. Fontaine for doing all the trip organizing. |

We had to rely and co-operate with each other in order to succeed. |
Some conquered their fear of heights.... |
...and some had no fear of heights. |
|

We even taught Kooee ( from Austrailia ) how to leg
wrestle. We came to the conclusion that Darcie was the Queen of Leg Wrestling. |

Trusting equipment and peers is often difficult to do
when you will be 35 feet above the ground. |
If we were to pick two people to survive in the wild
it would be these two. They built their own shelter, slept in it
outdoors all night and claimed they were warm and comfortable. Mrs.
Connell & Mrs. Sallis did not believe the comfortable part of the
story.

... and some had no problem challenging the limits in
all tasks.

Camping is so much more fun when the councilors bring out
the "Smors" for an evening snack. |
