PROFILE
The Robert W. Zahara School is located in the Town of Sexsmith adjacent
to the Arena and the Sexsmith Secondary High School. It provides
educational services to a roughly equal mixture of rural and
urban students. The school offers an ECS program four days
a week to approximately 50 students, and has about 365 students
enrolled in grades one to six. For 1999 - 2000, there is a
professional teaching staff of 19.1 (fte.) plus a total support
staff of 16 teaching assistants, librarians, administrative
assistant personnel and speech assistants.
FACILITIES
The core
building of the school was constructed in 1978 - 1979, and
it was designed as a six by six core school. There were four
portables added to the east end of the school in 1980, and
six additional rooms were added in 1989. The facility currently
has sixteen classrooms, a computer room, a library, a music
room, and a gymnasium. With the increase in enrollment in recent
years, serious consideration needs to be given to expansion
of four to six more rooms. This need has become imperative
as our enrollment continues to grow and we will need to have
three classrooms per grade.
